Luis Diaz wants new deal at Liverpool but open to Saudi move

Liverpool’s Colombian winger Luis Diaz wants to sign a new deal at Anfield but remains open to a move to the Middle East.

Liverpool could make significant changes to their attack ahead of next season. While they have secured Mohamed Salah’s future, there is a lot of uncertainty around the future of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz.

According to a report from TBR, the Colombian international wants to pen a new deal at the Merseyside club but he remains open to a move to the Saudi Pro League this summer.

Diaz has been a key figure in the Liverpool first team since he joined the back in 2022 from FC Porto. He has only gone from strength to strength over the years and has been a go-to option for Arne Slot this season in the final third.

The 28-year-old has been involved in a total of 45 matches across competitions and has racked up close to 3,000 minutes of first-team action. Diaz has found the back of the net on 15 occasions and has also bagged eight goals.

Will Diaz continue at Liverpool?

While he is an integral part of Slot’s plans, his future is up in the air because of his contract situation. Diaz will only have a year left on his deal this summer and his agents have been pushing hard for a new deal for some time.

The Anfield bosses are aware of his demands and they are open to discussing fresh terms. However, they could get the opportunity to cash in on him in the summer as Saudi Pro League clubs plot a raid on the Merseyside club.

They want to sign both Nunez and Diaz. The Colombian is believed to be open to the idea of making the move to the Middle East. An offer from a Saudi Arabian club can certainly tempt the Reds to sell the 28-year-old despite his importance in their setup.

Diaz’s representatives are prioritising a new deal at Anfield but they have informed Liverpool chiefs that if a new deal doesn’t materialise in time, they will push for a move away in the summer. Apart from the Saudi Pro League clubs, there is a lot of interest in him from across Europe. As a result, it is certainly one to keep an eye on.
