Arsenal are reportedly interested in exploring a move for Anthony Gordon in the summer as Newcastle United are determined to ask for a huge fee.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal could be interested in a move for Anthony Gordon in the summer to solve their issues on the left wing. Newcastle United are determined to ask for a huge fee to sell their prized attacker, as the Magpies are keen to keep hold of the England international.
Anthony Gordon has been a key asset for Newcastle United and Eddie Howe. While he has missed a few games of late, his importance cannot be undermined, as the England international is as instrumental as the other performing stars at St James Park.
Newcastle United are keen to keep hold of all their important stars, as Gordon is part of that list. The winger only signed a new deal back in October that more or less reiterated his happiness with life at Newcastle and his desire to be a part of the long-term future.
Liverpool were linked to Gordon, as they view him as a successor to Luis Diaz who could be sold in the summer. Now, Arsenal have entered the race for the Newcastle United mainstay, as Mikel Arteta eyes a key left-winger in the summer window to solve some problems over on that side.
This link might be a bit surprising given the Gunners have been long linked with Alexander Isak. The Swede could still be a target for Arsenal ahead of the summer, as they could pursue a separate deal for Gordon, who might become their priority target if there’s a possibility of signing him from Newcastle United.
Is Anthony Gordon a realistic target for Arsenal?
Arsenal will have to pay big if they desire to sign Gordon, as Newcastle United have all the power with the player’s future having signed him up on a new deal until 2030. The Gunners could offer an attractive salary package and could attract him if they end up winning the Champions League.
Newcastle United themselves are vying for a Champions League place next season and will get into a strong position if they can finish in the top five. The Magpies climbed into third place following a stellar 5-0 win over Crystal Palace in midweek, as being in the top-tier European competition will improve their finances and power to keep hold of players like Gordon away from the clutches of teams such as Arsenal.
