Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are plotting a raid on Crystal Palace for their English full-back Tyrick Mitchell.

According to a report from Fichajes, Manchester City are looking to knock on the door of Crystal Palace for the signature of Tyrick Mitchell. Pep Guardiola has urged the club to bring in a natural left-back as he looks to strengthen the squad following a disappointing campaign.

Mitchell has come up the ranks at Palace and has been a part of their first team since 2020. He has been a consistent performer for them over the years and has established himself as one of their mainstays.

He has featured in a total of 37 matches this season and has contributed towards five goals. While he prefers operating as a full-back, the 25-year-old has been deployed as a wing-back this season and has impressed in that role as well.

Manchester City are interested in Mitchell’s signature

His performances have put him on the radar of Manchester City, who want to bring in a top-quality left-back in the summer. The Premier League giants will be making significant investments in their squad after a disappointing campaign, and signing a full-back is one of their top priorities.

Guardiola is keen on signing a pure left-back to allow Josko Gvardiol to return to his preferred centre-back position. They want to bring in someone with attacking ability who will create chances for their attackers in the final third and also add depth to their backline.

They have prepared a shortlist of targets for the left-back position, and Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell is one of the names on their wishlist. He is a naturally attacking full-back with a lot of experience in the English top flight, as a result, it won’t be that big of a challenge for him to settle into Guardiola’s team.

With his contract at Palace running out in the summer, City could even secure his services on a free transfer if he doesn’t agree to a new deal before the end of the season. Since they have their eye on other targets, it will be interesting to see if they do end up making a move for the English full-back.
