Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United have been keeping a close eye on AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw ahead of a potential move this summer.
According to a report from CalcioMercato, Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle United could all make a move for AC Milan’s Malick Thiaw, who has made quite a name for himself with his performances at the Italian club. The Premier League clubs have been keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of a potential transfer.
Thiaw came up the ranks and made a name for himself while playing for FC Schalke 04 before joining Milan in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth just €7 million. The 23-year-old centre-back has established himself as a figure in the Italian club and has featured in a total of 83 matches.
While the German international has been a consistent performer for them, they could still look to cash in on him this summer. The Italian giants will undergo significant changes to their squad this summer. The incoming sporting director will not only look to offload players who are surplus to requirements, but he will also look to raise funds.
As a result, they could look to cash in on a few of their stars to balance the books and generate funds for potential signings. Thiaw is one of the players they could let go, as he could help them register a significant profit. Having signed him for just €7 million, Milan could now generate around €25-30 million from his departure.
Thiaw could secure a move to the Premier League
The 23-year-old has been linked with a return to Germany, where Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are both interested in his services. They seem to be willing to meet the demands of the Italian giants but could face significant competition from the Premier League, where Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on Thiaw’s situation.
The Gunners do have a reliable defensive partnership in William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães, but it seems Mikel Arteta wants more quality and depth as he looks to challenge for all major titles. Eddie Howe is also keen on strengthening his backline, and the German international could certainly compete for a place in the starting XI.
While Spurs have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin in their squad, injuries at the back have caused quite a few problems for them this season. As a result, they are looking to invest in another centre-back. With Romero’s future uncertain amidst interest from Atletico Madrid, Thiaw could prove to be a great acquisition for them.
The Milan centre-back is young, available for a reasonable fee, and has an affordable salary, making him an attractive option for all three English clubs.
