Richarlison rules out Brazil return in favour of Saudi switch

Richarlison is reportedly ready to snub a return to Brazil in favour of joining a Saudi Pro League club in the summer transfer window.

According to an update by Jorge Nicola via Bolavip, Richarlison is the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League. In addition, Flamengo and Palmeiras are keen on signing the Tottenham outcast in the summer transfer window. However, the Brazilian international does not want to return to his homeland and will instead prefer to join a Saudi Pro League club.

Richarlison and his Tottenham travails

Richarlison has seen his stock plummet since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Everton in a deal worth around £60 million in July 2022. The South American attacker was among the best players in the Premier League when he arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, he has blown hot and cold in the last three years.

The 27-year-old has seen his game time dwindle with each passing season, and he has barely featured in the 2024/25 campaign. The versatile attacker has managed only 562 minutes of action across 16 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with four goals and one assist.

However, despite the plummeting stock and game time, the Brazilian international remains highly sought-after in the market heading into the summer transfer window. The Tottenham outcast is a target for Saudi Pro League clubs. In addition, Flamengo and Palmeiras are keen on taking him back to Brazil.

What next?

Recent reports have also linked Richarlison with a return to Everton. So, with several options on his plate, the South American attacker has a critical decision heading into the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur will not stand in his way; that is unsurprising, considering his stature at the North London club.

However, the former Everton attacker does not want to return to his homeland and instead favours joining a Saudi Pro League club in the summer transfer window. The decision is surprising, considering the player should be at the peak of his powers.

However, Saudi Pro League clubs will likely double Richarlison’s wages in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 27-year-old Brazilian international.
