Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 20-year-old Turkish international Arda Guler from Real Madrid in a deal worth £35 million in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Arda Guler is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a versatile playmaker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the disgruntled Real Madrid playmaker. They are ready to cough up £35 million to sign the Turkish international in the coming months.
Arda Guler and his Real Madrid woes
Arda Guler has endured a stop-start stint since joining Real Madrid from Fenerbahce in July 2023. The Turk was among the most highly sought-after prodigies in the world when he arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu, and Los Blancos beat several European bigwigs to his signature nearly two years ago.
However, Guler’s spell with Real Madrid began with an untimely injury, and he barely featured in his debut season with the Merengues. While the 20-year-old has been fit for most of the 2024/25 campaign, he has struggled for game time, managing only 1,233 minutes of action across 34 appearances in all competitions.
Nevertheless, the Turkish international has produced a solid tally this term, contributing to ten goals by finding the back of the net three times and providing seven assists. However, the lack of game time has admittedly frustrated Guler, and he might depart from the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. The youngster’s stock in the market is high, with Arsenal among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Arsenal’s interest in Arda Guler is understandable. The Gunners have been over-dependent on Martin Odegaard for creative output in the final third. In addition, Mikel Arteta is over-reliant on Bukayo Saka from the flanks. So, the disgruntled Real Madrid playmaker has emerged as a possible one-stop solution for Arsenal.
Reports a few months ago suggested Arsenal might look to repeat the “Martin Odegaard” formula to land the 20-year-old Turk. The North London giants are ready to cough up £35 million to secure Guler’s services in the summer transfer window.
It is unclear if a bid worth £35 million will convince Real Madrid to cash in on Guler in the coming months. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can succeed with the proposal once they make that offer to Real Madrid.
