Arsenal hold direct talks with Benjamin Sesko

Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Benjamin Sesko is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are combing the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the RB Leipzig forward. They have established direct contacts with the Slovenian international, with Chelsea also keen on securing his services.

The rapid rise of Benjamin Sesko

Benjamin Sesko has established himself as one of the best young strikers in the world since rising in prominence at Red Bull Salzburg. However, the youngster has seen his stock soar since joining sister club RB Leipzig in July 2023. While the player was slow off the blocks at the Bundesliga club, he has come leaps and bounds in the last 18 months.

The 21-year-old has been exceptional thus far in the 2024/25 campaign, rising to the top of the scoring charts at RB Leipzig. Sesko has contributed to 25 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 19 times and providing six assists.

Meanwhile, Sesko’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Slovenian international, with Arsenal and Chelsea among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Benjamin Sesko is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window amid Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus’s struggles in front of the goal. So, the RB Leipzig forward has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal, with the North London club holding direct talks with his entourage.

As for Chelsea, Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu have been impressive during their stints with the West London club. However, Enzo Maresca wants more firepower in the final third, compelling Chelsea to dip into the market for a striker. So, Sesko is an option worth considering.

The RB Leipzig striker will not cost a bomb, with the youngster having a release clause worth €70 million in his contract with the Bundesliga club. The valuation should pose no problems for Arsenal and Chelsea. So, it will be interesting to see where the 21-year-old Slovenian international lands in the summer transfer window.
