West Ham United submit contract offer to Kyle Walker-Peters, Tottenham also keen

West Ham United have made a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur defensive target Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer this summer.

According to a report from TBR, West Ham United and Tottenham are both keen on signing Kyle Walker-Peters, who is all set to leave Southampton as a free agent after the end of the ongoing campaign. Spurs have held talks with his representatives, while the Saints are looking to win the race and have already put forward a contract offer.

Walker-Peters was a part of the Tottenham setup back in the day. He went up the ranks at the North London club and made it to their first team. But things didn’t work out for him there, and he ended up joining Southampton in 2020 in a swap deal that saw Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg go the other way.

The 27-year-old has been a consistent performer for the Saints over the years. Despite the club’s struggles in the top flight, he has remained one of their standout players. While he prefers playing as a right-back, he has featured on both flanks as well as in central defence this season.

Walker-Peters’ contract at Southampton runs out this summer, and he has already made a decision on his future. The English full-back has informed the club that he won’t be signing a new deal and is set to leave on a free transfer this summer with the club set to return to the Championship.

Walker-Peters to continue in the Premier League

With him set to be available for free, there is no shortage of interest. Tottenham are interested in bringing him back to North London. Ange Postecoglou’s team seek more depth at the back, and they believe Walker-Peters’ versatility could come in handy.

Spurs have already held talks with his representatives, and they are optimistic about their chances, thanks to the connection they have with the player. But West Ham could cause significant problems for Tottenham.

The Hammers are looking to win the race for his signature and have already offered the 27-year-old a contract. With Vladimir Coufal’s contract running out, Walker-Peters could replace him at the London club, and he could certainly challenge Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a place in the starting XI.

The Southampton full-back has proved himself as a strong homegrown option, and it is one of the major reasons why both Spurs and the Hammers are pushing to sign him for free.
