Tottenham Hotspur keen on Tyrick Mitchell

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are interested in acquiring the services of Crystal Palace full-back Tyrick Mitchell.

According to a report from TBR, Tottenham are looking to add more quality to their backline this summer, and they are interested in the services of Tyrick Mitchell. The English full-back could look to part ways with Crystal Palace, and Spurs would love to add him to their squad.

Mitchell has been a part of the Palace setup since 2016. He went up the ranks at some pace and broke into their first team in the summer of 2020. Over the years, the 25-year-old has featured in a total of 180 matches and has contributed towards 16 goals.

While he has been competing with Chelsea loanee Ben Chilwell for a place in the starting XI, the English international still remains an important part of their first team, having made 36 appearances across competitions this season.

But with his contract running out in the summer, his future is up in the air. Mitchell is considering his options, and he might not pen a new deal if and when he is offered one. More importantly, the Eagles were in the market for a new left-back in the winter, which suggests they could look to move on from the 25-year-old ahead of next season.

Mitchell could make the move to Tottenham

They seem to have already identified an ideal replacement. The Eagles are big admirers of Sunderland’s Dennis Cirkin and could make a move for him if Mitchell leaves. Spurs have emerged as a potential destination for the Palace full-back.

The North London club want to add more quality to the left side of their defence. They have been closely monitoring the English international for some time and consider him an ideal fit for their system.

Sergio Reguilon’s departure is certain, so Mitchell could come in to take his place in the team, and he could compete with Destiny Udogie for a place in the starting XI. They had already decided to push for his signature and are now ready to step up their interest.

With the player weighing up his future at Selhurst Park, Spurs have a real opportunity to lure him to North London. With his contract nearing its end, the club sees this as a smart chance to strengthen their squad.
