Tottenham could make a move for Isak Hien as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero in the summer as the Argentine could leave north London.
According to Fichajes, Tottenham have added Isak Hien to their list of potential Cristian Romero replacements in the summer. The Argentine defender could depart Spurs in the close season for a bigger challenge, with the north London side now eager to explore a move for Atalanta’s 26-year-old centre-back.
Tottenham have a potential problem waiting for them in the summer, as the future of key defender Cristian Romero could come under question. The Argentine World Cup winner is already assessing his options amid links to Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, as he seems to want a bigger challenge in his career.
Spurs are also in danger of missing out on Champions League football if they cannot win the Europa League, and should that happen, Romero will want an exit. Tottenham have already earmarked a few options to replace the Argentine, with Sporting CP’s Ousmane Diomande considered among those.
PSG’s Milan Skriniar is another name on their list, and now they have an interest in a player from Atalanta in Isak Hien. Romero incidentally arrived from the Bergamo side, and Tottenham could potentially find a replacement from the same Serie A side.
Tottenham did have good relations with Atalanta for a variety of business in the past, and that could lead to a positive conclusion for Hien should Spurs approach for the defender. The 26-year-old certainly fits the criteria of defenders that the north Londoners, although his price point will be crucial.
Isak Hien the right fit for Tottenham?
The 26-year-old Swedish centre-back certainly fits into this Tottenham side should Romero leave. The Argentine defender has made himself a big figure in the Spurs backline, and it will take a big effort to replace the World Cup winner.
Tactically, Hein would fit in perfectly, and replace Romero, while he might come into this Tottenham side as a starter rather than a squad player. From the Swede’s perspective, he might look at the future and make a switch to the Premier League especially as it will be a big jump in his career with a big contract likely to land on his table.
