Arsenal are reportedly interested in Javi Guerra as Mikel Arteta seeks midfield reinforcements amid risk of losing two of their experienced stars.
According to Fichajes, Javi Guerra has emerged as a target for Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window. The Gunners are probably looking to take advantage of Valencia’s financial situation to snap up one of the talented young midfielders in Spain, as Mikel Arteta ponders big changes to his midfield setup.
Javi Guerra has taken giant steps in his developments ever since breaking into the Valencia first-team squad back in the 2022/23 season. His real breakthrough campaign was the following term, and including the current season he has made 75 La Liga appearances for Los Che and the midfielder is only 21.
Many top clubs have kept tabs on him since before the winter window, including Arsenal. Mikel Arteta is gearing up for a big summer window where the Gunners are expected to strengthen their offensive line although there’s a big gap opening up in their midfield.
The futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho remain uncertain, with the experienced midfield duo already into the final few months of their existing deals. There is a distinct possibility for both those stars to depart, which will force Arsenal into the market for viable replacements.
New sporting director Andrea Berta is tasked with completing a deal for Martin Zubimendi, and even if the Spaniard arrives, there is still a gap to be filled in the middle. Hence, the links to Javi Guerra are unsurprising at this point, with Arsenal closely looking at the midfielder and eager to take advantage of Valencia’s financial issues.
Could Valencia sell Guerra?
The 21-year-old highly-rated midfielder will enter the final two years of his deal at Valencia, which could see the club decide on his future. The upcoming summer transfer window might be the best time for them to cash in for the right value as they could risk the prospect of reducing his value if they keep him at the club beyond the summer.
Arsenal like how Guerra can influence all the boxes and need a young midfielder who can play a good role alongside Declan Rice and potentially Zubimendi. It remains to be seen how much Valencia would demand for the 21-year-old highly-rated midfielder, as the Gunners could have funds to get a deal done for the emerging midfielder in the summer.
