West Ham United are plotting a major overhaul for the summer transfer window, and ten senior players could leave the club in the coming months.
According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham United could get rid of players like Guido Rodriguez, Niclas Fullkrug, Emerson Palmieri, Maxwell Cornet, Michail Antonio, Danny Ings, Vladimir Coufal, Aaron Cresswell, and Lukasz Fabianski in the summer transfer window.
In addition, Carlos Soler will return to his parent club, PSG, upon the expiry of his contract. West Ham have an option to sign him for a fee of around £17 million, but the Hammers do not want to get the deal done.
It has been a disappointing season for West Ham, and it is clear that they are looking to rebuild the squad. After the departure of the aforementioned players, Graham Potter should have a significant transfer budget to improve his team for the upcoming campaign.
The Hammers have a quality spine, and a few intelligent additions could take them to a new level. Signing a reliable centre -orward should be top priority for them. West Ham have two quality creative players in Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, but they are lacking a reliable finisher.
Similarly, they need to improve defensively as well. The East London outfit have looked quite vulnerable at the back of the season. Finally, a midfield controller should be one of their priorities. They need a player who can control the tempo of the game and stitch the play together.
A clear-out beckons
As far as the aforementioned players are concerned, most of them have been very underwhelming, and it makes sense for West Ham to get rid of them. Some of them will be out of contract in the summer, and it makes no sense for West Ham to offer them new deals.
It will be interesting to see if they can improve the squad adequately during the summer transfer window and replace the outgoing players properly. A club of their stature should be fighting for European qualification but it has been a variety disappointing season for them this year. It will be interesting to see if Potter can get them fighting towards the top of the table next season.
