Carlos Soler unlikely to seal permanent move to West Ham United

West Ham United will unlikely seal a permanent move to sign 14-cap Spanish international Carlos Soler from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Carlos Soler faces an uncertain future at the club level heading into the summer transfer window. The 14-cap Spanish international has struggled to make his mark at West Ham United since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain on a season-long loan deal last summer.

Carlos Soler and his struggles

Carlos Soler has seen his progress come to a stuttering halt since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Valencia in September 2022. A native of Valencia, the Spaniard spent his formative years in his homeland and graduated from the youth division at the struggling La Liga club, having rapidly progressed through the ranks at Valencia CF.

The 28-year-old was among the best midfielders in La Liga when PSG signed him from Valencia. However, Soler could not stamp his authority at the Ligue 1 club after spending two seasons with Les Parisiens. West Ham United came calling last summer, but the struggles have not ended in the 2024/25 season.

The 14-cap Spanish international has not even completed 1,500 minutes of game time across 28 appearances in all competitions while chipping in with one goal and one assist. So, with the player’s struggles not ending, it will be surprising to see him completing a permanent move to West Ham United after his loan deal ends.

London calling?

While Carlos Soler was a highly-rated midfielder several years ago, he has not fulfilled his potential since leaving Valencia. So, the latest update is not surprising, with West Ham United increasingly unlikely to seal a permanent move for the former Valencia midfielder in the summer transfer window.

However, the Hammers have several other midfielders on their wishlist, with recent reports linking the East London club with Dan Neil, Angel Gomes, and Chris Rigg. As for Soler, the 28-year-old Spaniard might not have a long-term future at PSG.

So, a permanent move away from Parc des Princes might be on the cards for the 14-cap Spanish international. It will be interesting to see what the future has in store for Soler amid his struggles at West Ham and PSG.
