Viktor Gyokeres approves Arsenal move to Andrea Berta

Arsenal have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres, who has given Andrea Berta the green light for a move.

According to Correio da Manha via Sport Witness, Viktor Gyokeres is keen on joining Arsenal ahead of next season. The Sporting CP striker has given the green light to the North London club’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, regarding a move this summer.

Gyokeres has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world since joining the Portuguese club in the summer of 2023. The Swede had an exceptional debut campaign, and he has backed it up with another sensational season this time around.

He has bagged 43 goals and 11 assists in his 43 outings this season. His performances over the last two seasons have not gone unnoticed, and some of the biggest clubs in Europe are after his signature. But it seems Arsenal have taken the lead, thanks to the efforts of their new sporting director, Andrea Berta.

Berta has convinced Gyokeres to join Arsenal

The former Atletico Madrid chief took charge at the North London club towards the end of March, and he is already working hard to ensure they land one of their biggest targets this summer. Arsenal will prioritise signing a world-class striker this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to help end their wait for major silverware.

The Spanish manager is not satisfied with the performances of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. He wants a proven goal scorer to lead his line next season. While the Gunners had Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Gyokeres on their wishlist, Berta is the one who is pushing to bring the Swedish striker to North London.

He has been working on this transfer since arriving at the club and seems to have convinced the player about joining them. Gyokeres has reportedly said yes to the 53-year-old regarding a move to Arsenal. He likes the Gunners’ project and is keen on joining them this summer.

The 26-year-old is impressed by the desire shown by Berta. While the player has given his green light to the move, Arsenal do need to strike a deal with Sporting, which won’t be that easy. The Portuguese giants want around €80-90 million to sell their star striker but are open to the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal. Meanwhile, Sporting won’t announce any transfer before July as they want to place the sale in the new financial year.
