Callum Olusesi snubbed Bayern Munich before agreeing new Tottenham deal

Callum Olusesi reportedly rejected the overtures of Bayern Munich before signing a new deal with Tottenham to prolong his career in north London.

According to Football Insider, Callum Olusesi has committed his future at Tottenham after signing a new three-year deal. The teenager was the subject of big interest from some of the big clubs around the world and reportedly rejected the overtures of Bayern Munich before committing to a new contract in north London.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has placed a lot of emphasis on young rising players either from the academy or elsewhere. While this season has been nothing short of a disaster on all fronts barring maybe the Europa League, the Australian has used some of his young stars wisely.

For instance, Archie Gray has made a big impact in the team, with the former Leeds United star playing more of a role in the defence rather than in his regular midfield berth. Lucas Bergvall has also had a huge impact as he has become a regular of sorts under Postecoglou.

There are others like Will Lankshear and Mikey Moore who are regularly getting minutes in the team. The impact of young stars may have given some hope to the likes of Callum Olusesi, who was at the crossroads of whether to extend his deal at the club or not, as he last signed an extension 12 months ago.

Olusesi has already committed to a new deal in north London after he signed a new three-year contract to prolong his future here. The teenager firmly believes there’s a huge chance ahead of the next season to break into the first team, with the player keen to fight and enter that sphere.

Olusesi rejected Bayern Munich before Tottenham deal

As the academy market goes, most of the top clubs are always wary of the emerging talents in the market and in Olusesi’s case, he did have a lot of top-draw suitors keeping close tabs on his contract situation. Ajax, Juventus and PSG were keen, while Bayern Munich reportedly approached the 18-year-old Tottenham wonderkid’s camp.

Olusesi reportedly rejected an offer from Bayern Munich to commit his future to Spurs, thus becoming one of the highest earners in Tottenham’s academy setup. This is a huge decision from the teenager, although the new season will show if he has what it takes to break into Postecoglou’s first team.
