The teenager was the subject of big interest from some of the big clubs around the world and reportedly rejected the overtures of Bayern Munich before committing to a new contract in north London.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has placed a lot of emphasis on young rising players either from the academy or elsewhere. While this season has been nothing short of a disaster on all fronts barring maybe the Europa League, the Australian has used some of his young stars wisely.
For instance, Archie Gray has made a big impact in the team, with the former Leeds United star playing more of a role in the defence rather than in his regular midfield berth. Lucas Bergvall has also had a huge impact as he has become a regular of sorts under Postecoglou.
