Norwich City are ready to make a move for Nathan Butler-Oyedeji in the summer on a free transfer as the 22-year-old star’s Arsenal career winds down.
According to Football Insider, Norwich City are interested in signing Nathan Butler Oyedeji in the summer on a free transfer. The 22-year-old striker has been around Mikel Arteta’s first-team squad this season regularly, but his lack of involvement in actual games will probably see him leave the club in the close season.
Arsenal have had a massive attacking injury crisis since December, with Mikel Arteta missing most of his key forwards for long spells. Bukayo Saka has been missing for over three months, while Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are out for the remainder of the season.
Gabriel Martinelli also spent time on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, as all those injuries coupled with Arsenal’s inability to sign a striker have hurt the team’s chances in the Premier League title race. The return of Saka will certainly boost their chances in the Champions League ahead of the upcoming game against Real Madrid.
Arsenal are gearing up to sign a new striker in the close season, with Viktor Gyokeres emerging as a top target in recent days. There are other names like Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko, as there’s a big chance for one of those three to arrive, which would potentially end the time for an emerging star in Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.
The 22-year-old Arsenal attacker has been on the periphery of Arteta’s first-team plans, and while he has made the matchday squad on nine occasions this season in the Premier League, Butler-Oyedeji did not play a single minute. He did play a minute of action against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, which was inconsequential at best. Hence, there’s every chance for him to leave the Gunners in the summer.
Norwich City are interested in Nathan Butler-Oyedeji
Norwich City are eager to take advantage of Butler-Oyedeji’s situation and sign the 22-year-old Arsenal attacker on a free transfer. The forward is unlikely to sign a new deal with the north Londoners, which could open the door towards joining a meaningful project that will help improve his career. There was interest from FC Zurich before the January window, although it might have been Arsenal’s decision to keep him.
The idea of joining Norwich City could appeal to the 22-year-old Arsenal attacker ahead of the summer as this might be a better club than his previous loan teams. He could get a chance to shine in the Championship, which could potentially kickstart his career which has visibly stalled at the north London side.
