Crystal Palace, West Ham United vying for Kevin Lomonaco

Crystal Palace and West Ham United are among the clubs keen on Independiente defender Kevin Lomonaco ahead of the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, there is growing interest from at least two Premier League sides in Kevin Lomonaco of Independiente. The defender has a €20 million release clause, as per Give Me Sport, in his contract that the Argentine club will demand from suitors like Crystal Palace and West Ham United.

Kevin Lomonaco has made a big impact since joining Independiente from Brazilian side RB Bragantino in January. It has taken him only ten appearances to make a mark on some of the overseas suitors as a host of Premier League sides are interested.

Whilst there is a presumption that Lomonaco might be open to a European challenge, it is not confirmed that he wants a move out of Independiente. In any case, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are lining up moves for the Argentine defender, who has a €20 million release clause that Independiente want his suitors to meet.

Crystal Palace and West Ham certainly have the financial capacity to pay as much, although it remains to be seen in what capacity they are interested in the defender. For instance, Palace will need around the summer as they are expected to sell Liverpool-linked Marc Guehi, while there generally is a need for new defenders at the club.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner likes to trust young talents, and the €20 million-rated Argentine defender certainly is at the age where he can bring something different to the club. Competing with Palace are West Ham, with Graham Potter looking closely into the market to improve his defence.

West Ham interested in Kevin Lomonaco

The report ran a comment from Lomonaco in which he claimed himself as a West Ham fan. He said, Kevin “I really like the Premier League. It’s what I watch the most. An English league team? I like West Ham.”

Irrespective of what his preference might be, West Ham can make a case for themselves when chasing the €20 million-rated Argentine defender in the summer. The Hammers are reportedly looking at Lomonaco as a potential replacement for Dinos Mavropanos in the summer, although there are other names linked recently such as Oumar Solet.

There are also doubts about Nayef Aguerd’s immediate future despite suggestions that Potter could hand the Moroccan international a lifeline. In any case, the idea of signing Lomonaco could be something the club may consider, especially if the price is right, as Crystal Palace may also try their hand in this hunt.
