Liverpool willing to spend €170 million on Julian Alvarez

Liverpool are ready to break the bank and fork out €170 million to sign former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool are looking to bring Julian Alvarez back to the Premier League. The Reds are willing to do everything in their power to sign the Atletico Madrid star forward ahead of next season.

Alvarez made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances at Manchester City. While he was an important first-team player with a sensational track record, the Argentine World Cup winner was not a regular starter under Pep Guardiola, with Erling Haaland leading their line.

In search of a more prominent role, the 25-year-old parted ways with the English giants and ended up joining Atletico Madrid last summer. Although settling into his new team wasn’t easy, and he struggled initially, Alvarez has now adapted well and has been a consistent performer in recent times.

He has become a reliable figure under Diego Simeone and has 28 goal contributions in his 44 outings. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed. His ability to take on defenders, versatility, and clinical finishing have put him on Liverpool’s radar, who are gearing up for an important transfer window.

Liverpool to break the bank for Alvarez

The Reds might have to part ways with their superstar, Mohamed Salah, at the end of the season as his contract is running out. As a result, they need to bring in a world-class forward who can help cope with his absence. While Alvarez is not a like-for-like, he can certainly help them score those crucial goals. With Darwin Nunez also expected to be on the move, he can slot in as their new number.

The Merseyside club are reportedly ready to make an offer worth €170 million to convince Atletico to part ways with their most valuable asset. Such a substantial offer will undoubtedly give them pause, as it would set a record fee for the Madrid club. However, the decision won’t be straightforward, as Alvarez is seen as a crucial pillar of their long-term sporting project.
