Manchester United and West Ham United have made initial enquiries about Udinese defensive mainstay Oumar Solet.
According to a report from Messaggero Veneto, Manchester United and West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of Oumar Solet. Both Premier League outfits have knocked on the doors of Udinese to learn more about a potential transfer.
Solet joined the Italian outfit at the start of the year. While he hasn’t been around for long, the 25-year-old has made quite a name for himself with his impressive performances. He has featured in a total of 10 league outings and even has an assist to his name.
His consistent display in the heart of the defence hasn’t gone unnoticed. While he has only been around for a few months, the French centre-back has already been linked with a move away amidst interest from Premier League giants.
There are some top Italian clubs who have him on their wishlist, but the English clubs do hold an advantage, thanks to their massive financial strength. Since Solet only penned a contract until 2027, Udinese won’t mind cashing in on him if a sizeable offer arrives. The report suggests an offer of around €30 million plus bonuses could do the trick.
Solet’s performance could earn him a move to the Premier League
Manchester United and West Ham United have emerged as potential destinations for the 25-year-old. Despite having signed Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro in the recent past, Ruben Amorim still seeks more quality at the back.
With Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof likely to be on the move, they are looking to add Solet to their squad to ensure they have the needed depth. Meanwhile, Graham Potter wants to reinforce his defence at West Ham on a priority basis.
They only have top central defenders in their squad, including 20-year-old Kaelan Casey. It is quite evident that they are short of options in that department. Solet could be a cost-effective option to bolster their backline.
Both English clubs have already tested the waters for his signing. While they haven’t taken any concrete steps just yet, their interest is quite real. Meanwhile, Udinese are aware of the increasing interest, and they have started to prepare for a situation where the 25-year-old is no longer at the club.
