Arsenal and Liverpool handed boost in Alexander Isak pursuit

Arsenal and Liverpool have both received a massive boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Arsenal and Liverpool have been put on red alert as contract renewal talks between Newcastle United and Alexander Isak have reached a standstill. Both Premier League giants would pounce on any opportunity to sign the Swedish striker this summer.

Isak has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Magpies from Real Sociedad. He has established himself as a key figure in the team and is widely regarded as one of the best forwards in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has 23 goals and five assists in his 33 outings across competitions. He played a massive part in their Carabao Cup triumph. Despite being one of the first names on their team sheet and having a contract that runs until 2028, Isak faces an uncertain future at the Tyneside club.

Newcastle were keen to reward him for his performances with a new deal while also securing his long-term future. But their initial offer has been turned down by the player, following which the Magpies have paused renewal talks with their star striker.

Arsenal and Liverpool want Isak

On the back of this development, Arsenal and Liverpool have been put on red alert as both clubs want to bring in a world-class forward in the summer. The Gunners want a proven goal scorer on a priority basis as they look to end their wait for major silverware.

Mikel Arteta is not happy with the output of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz; someone like Isak could help them take the next step. Meanwhile, Arne Slot is not pleased with the performances of Darwin Nunez and would love to bring in a replacement.

With Mohamed Salah’s contract running out, they need to bring in someone who can lead their attack, and Isak’s consistent performances at Newcastle suggest he could be that guy. While both clubs have received a boost for now, the Tyneside club haven’t given up on a new deal yet.

They are now reassessing their plans and could return with an improved bid in the future. Meanwhile, they are also preparing for a situation where they might have to cash in on the Swedish striker. They have identified Sporting CP ace Viktor Gyokeres as a potential replacement.
