Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested in signing KRC Genk midfield sensation Konstantinos Karetsas.
According to a report from TBR, Konstantinos Karetsas could end up securing a move to the Premier League this summer. Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle are all interested in the services of the teenager who stunned Scotland a few days back.
Karetsas has come up the ranks at Genk. He got promoted to their first team at the start of 2024 and hasn’t looked back since. The 17-year-old has managed to establish himself as a key figure in the team in the ongoing campaign.
The young attacking midfielder has featured in a total of 30 games in the ongoing campaign and has contributed towards six goals. His impressive rise has put him on the radar of United, Liverpool and Newcastle, who have been keeping a close eye on him since the start of the season.
All three clubs have received glowing feedback about the teenager who can feature as a number ten, a winger, as well as a central midfielder. Scouts of all three clubs were present in the stands when he created history for Greece on Sunday.
Karetsas, who had recently received his Greece passport, became the youngest goal scorer in the country’s history as they stunned Scotland 3-0 and knocked them out of Nations League A. He had a direct matchup against Andrew Robertson and did consistently trouble the Liverpool star.
Karetsas could move to the Premier League
Scouts who were in attendance at Hampden Park were certainly impressed by his display. Having scouted him for a while now, all three English clubs could knock on Genk’s doors in the summer. Manchester United are looking to shift their focus towards young stars with massive potential, and Karetsas could be a great fit for their project.
While the Magpies are looking to strengthen their squad further, they also want to build for the future, and the Greek international certainly has a lot of promise. As far as the Reds are concerned, they need to bring in someone who can replace Mohamed Salah in the long run. The 17-year-old could certainly help, and having troubled Robertson, the Merseyside club would have surely been impressed by him.
