Arsenal will reportedly compete with RB Leipzig and Lazio to sign 20-year-old Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss from fellow Premier League club Leicester City.
According to a report by Africa Foot, Bilal El Khannouss is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Leicester City playmaker has emerged as a target for the North London club. However, they will face stiff competition from RB Leipzig and Lazio for the Moroccan international.
Bilal El Khannouss and his career so far
Bilal El Khannouss could not have picked a worse time to join Leicester City. A native of Strombeek-Bever, the youngster spent his formative years in Belgium. He started his youth career at Anrelecht, remaining at the club for over a decade before graduating from the youth division at KRC Genk.
However, the 20-year-old has risen in prominence since joining Leicester City from KRC Genk in a deal worth €21 million last summer. While the Foxes have struggled throughout El Khannouss’s debut season at the King Power Stadium, the youngster has been a rare bright spot for the relegation-threatened Premier League club.
With Leicester City closing in on suffering relegation from the Premier League, some players might depart from the King Power Stadium. El Khannouss is a candidate for the category. Arsenal will be among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.
London calling?
Arsenal’s interest in Bilal El Khannouss is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. Amid the over-dependence on Bukayo Saka in the final third, Arsenal can do with an offensive signing. So, several candidates, including Ademola Lookman, are on the North London club’s radar, with the Leicester playmaker a viable target.
However, Arsenal will not be alone in the battle, with RB Leipzig and SS Lazio also keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. So, the North London club will not have a straightforward chase.
Meanwhile, Leicester City might not have the bandwidth to demand a premium to part ways with the 20-year-old Moroccan international if they fail to retain their status in the Premier League. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for El Khannouss.
