Arsenal closely monitoring Jesus Areso

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal are reportedly tracking the progress of 25-year-old Spanish full-back Jesus Areso at La Liga club CA Osasuna.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Jesus Areso is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a full-back heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old CA Osasuna right-back has emerged as a viable target for the North London outfit.

Who is Jesus Areso?

Jesus Areso has established himself as one of the most dependable full-backs in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at CA Osasuna. A native of Cascante, the Spaniard spent his formative years in his homeland, starting his youth career at CD Aluvion before graduating from the youth division at CA Osasuna.

While the 25-year-old made his first-team bow for Osasuna in the early days of the 2021/22 season, he had to wait until the 2023/24 campaign to enjoy his breakthrough at the Pamplona-based club. Areso has turned out 75 times thus far for the bottom-half La Liga outfit while chipping in with one goal and ten assists.

Meanwhile, the Spanish full-back’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. An adventure in the Premier League might be on the cards for the CA Osasuna defender, with Arsenal among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Jesus Areso makes sense. The Gunners are scouring the market for an out-and-out full-back heading into the summer transfer window. While Mikel Arteta has preferred utilising centre-backs in the two positions, Arsenal can do with a recognised full-back on both flanks.

So, several candidates, including Andrea Cambiaso, have emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Areso also a viable target for the North London club. However, the Gunners are only closely observing the 25-year-old Spaniard, and it is unclear if they intend to intensify their efforts to secure his services.

With Arsenal requiring considerable investment into the first-team squad in the summer transfer window, prioritising areas of reinforcement will be crucial. So, it will be interesting to see if the Spanish full-back becomes a top target for the Premier League club.
