Ademola Lookman offered to Real Madrid, opportunity snubbed

Intermediaries have reportedly offered Real Madrid the chance to sign 27-year-old Nigerian international Ademola Lookman from Serie A title hopefuls Atalanta this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid will have the opportunity to sign Ademola Lookman in the summer transfer window. Intermediaries have offered the Atalanta attacker to the reigning La Liga champions. However, Florentino Perez has turned down the opportunity to land the Nigerian international.

Ademola Lookman and his Atalanta journey so far

Ademola Lookman has found his calling since joining Atalanta from RB Leipzig in August 2022. The London-born forward struggled to make his mark at almost every club after graduating from the youth division at Charlton Athletic. However, he has not looked back in the last two and a half years, establishing himself as one of the best attackers in Serie A.

The 27-year-old has come into his own in the last 12 months, first playing his part as Atalanta won the UEFA Europa League title in the 2023/24 season before becoming one of the most productive attackers in Serie A in the ongoing campaign. Lookman has contributed to 25 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions this term, finding the back of the net 18 times and providing seven assists.

Meanwhile, Lookman’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Meanwhile, intermediaries have offered Real Madrid the opportunity to sign the Nigerian international in the summer transfer window.

La Liga adventure beckoning?

Ademola Lookman has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. However, Los Blancos’ interest in the in-form attacker has faded, with Florentino Perez snubbing the opportunity to sign the Atalanta attacker in the summer transfer window.

While Real Madrid can do with a versatile attacker amid the over-dependence on Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Kylian Mbappe, Florentino Perez has opined that the Merengues have a well-stocked offensive unit. So, Los Blancos will not launch the offensive to sign the London-born forward in the summer transfer window.

However, while a move to Real Madrid might not be on the cards, it will not be surprising to see him return to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. With several English bigwigs keen, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 27-year-old Nigerian international.
