AC Milan could explore a move for Rodrigo Bentancur under the leadership of former Tottenham director Fabio Paratici.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, AC Milan could explore a move for Rodrigo Bentancur under the leadership of former Tottenham director Fabio Paratici. Spurs are keen to offer the Uruguayan international a new deal to stay at the club, with the upcoming summer window likely to play a big role in the midfielder’s decision-making.
Tottenham have endured a difficult season under Ange Postecoglou, with multiple injuries and at times a loss of form dictating their dismal position on the Premier League standings. There is still hope for revival, with the UEFA Europa League being the only competition that can yield success for Spurs.
Despite an underwhelming season, there have been a few players who have excelled, one of them being Rodrigo Bentancur. The experienced midfielder has been somewhat excellent in Postecoglou’s setup, as he has often been used as a starter over the likes of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma.
Spurs are open to handing him a new contract, with the suggestion of imminent talks over the deal likely to take place in the coming period. Bentancur, who cost Tottenham £16 million when he arrived from Juventus has had his fair share of injury troubles, but he has been a reliable presence in their midfield.
Tottenham are looking to tie down a few important yet experienced stars in the squad, as they are keen to keep Cristian Romero, as well as Bentancur ahead of the summer. In the Uruguayan midfielder’s case, Spurs may have to accelerate their efforts over a new deal, as his deal expires in 2026, meaning the midfielder will enter the final year of his contract once the season ends.
AC Milan keen to sign Rodrigo Bentancur
AC Milan are making a host of changes in the background, as they look to end the season with a new sporting director at the helm. As it stands, former Spurs director Fabio Paratici is one of the favourites for the role, and should the club appoint the Italian transfer guru, he would look to prise Bentancur back to Serie A.
The Rossoneri could prove a bit of a problem for Tottenham in their efforts to renew Bentancur’s deal, although they are expected to make a compelling proposal to the Uruguayan midfielder. For now, the decision will be with the midfielder, as he will be expected to take a big call over in the close season.
