Celta Vigo considering Armando Broja swoop

La Liga club Celta Vigo might look to sign 23-year-old injury-riddled Albanian striker Armando Broja from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Armando Broja is the subject of interest from Celta Vigo. The Galician giants are scouring the market for a striker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 23-year-old injury-riddled Chelsea prospect has emerged as a target for Los Celeste, and they are keeping tabs on his situation amid his struggles at Everton.

Armando Broja and his fitness woes

Armando Broja has struggled to take off since returning from a successful loan spell with Southampton in the 2021/22 season. A native of Slough, he spent his formative years in England, starting his youth career with Burnham Juniors before graduating from the youth division at Chelsea.

The 23-year-old looked destined to embark on a prolific career, perhaps with Chelsea after returning from Southampton. However, an untimely injury derailed Broja’s campaign in the 2022/23 season, and he has never recovered from that setback. Everton signed the youngster on a season-long loan deal last summer.

However, the Albanian international has managed only 190 minutes of game time across seven appearances thus far for Everton. So, another unsuccessful season will end with Broja barely making progress in England. However, an adventure in La Liga might be on the cards for the young striker heading into the summer transfer window, with Celta Vigo tracking his situation.

La Liga adventure on the horizon?

Celta Vigo’s interest in Armando Broja is understandable. While Claudio Giraldez has multiple strikers in his squad, talismanic captain Iago Aspas is in the twilight of his career. So, the Galician outfit should dip into the market for a young striker who can learn the ropes from Aspas before taking over as the first-choice centre-forward.

While Broja has struggled with fitness issues in the last seasons, he remains a highly-rated striker, with Celta Vigo keeping tabs on his situation. The Slough-born attacker will likely return to Chelsea after his loan spell with Everton ends.

However, it will be interesting to see if Celta Vigo will launch the offensive over a loan deal or a permanent move when the transfer window reopens in the summer.
