Manchester United make approach over James Trafford move

Manchester United have reportedly enquired for Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, who could make a return to the Premier League.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford has emerged on Manchester United’s shortlist of targets, with the Red Devils submitting an enquiry. The 22-year-old Englishman also has other big suitors, including Newcastle United, but he also has a chance to play in the top flight with the Clarets.

James Trafford chose to stay with Burnley to embark on another season in the Championship following their relegation from the top flight last season. However, the English goalkeeper finds himself at another crossroads when it comes to making an important career decision. In the meantime, the youngster has enjoyed an exceptional campaign, keeping the most clean sheets in the second division.

With Burnley still in with a chance to gain automatic promotion to the Premier League or by winning the playoffs, Trafford seems destined to play in the top flight either with the Clarets or with another team. He does have a lot of interest coming through, as he is open to a summer move to another team.

Newcastle United and Manchester United are keen on James Trafford, with the former making some effort in the market to figure out a move ahead of the summer. The latter are now considering an approach, having already enquired to find out other details about a potential transfer in the close season.

Manchester United could be in the market for a new goalkeeper, as Ruben Amorim might want to bring competition for the likes of Andre Onana. The Cameroonian international has been inconsistent with his performances, which has forced the club and their manager to find an alternate solution, while the future of Altay Biyandir has also come under a cloud of doubt.

Manchester United keen on a new goalkeeper

Manchester United have reportedly enquired for Trafford, with the 22-year-old Englishman impressing with his performances with league-leading numbers in the Championship. However, he is not expected to be cheaper by any means, with Burnley likely to use the interest to extract the best possible fee from his sale.

Manchester United are also keen on Andriy Lunin, with the Real Madrid star likely to angle for a summer move. The Red Devils are likely to consider multiple other options, with Trafford part of the list, as he could potentially become another star to cross the divide of being a former Manchester City player to play at Old Trafford.
