Tottenham Hotspur very keen on Viktor Gyokeres

Tottenham are prepared to make a significant offer for Viktor Gyokeres ahead of the summer, with the team looking for a prolific goalscorer.

According to Fichajes, Viktor Gyokeres is emerging as a big target for Tottenham ahead of the summer, with the north Londoners set to make a significant offer. Sporting CP will stay adamant about their financial demands for the Swedish striker, who could end up leaving the Portuguese club regardless.

Viktor Gyokeres has been spoken about in the same conversation as some of the most high-profile targets, as there are constant links to some of the big clubs. He has a huge release clause in his contract at Sporting CP, as the Portuguese club are eager to gain as much as possible from a financial angle.

Gyokeres reportedly prefers certain clubs over others, with Arsenal and Liverpool among those linked with him constantly. It is of the understanding that neither of those Premier League giants have a genuine interest in the Swede despite his consistent goalscoring numbers, as he has 50 goals and assists this season with Sporting.

Manchester United are interested, with Ruben Amorim keen to reunite with his former Sporting CP star, although the deal might be difficult from a financial standpoint. The Red Devils might consider paying big for Gyokeres although they have other needs like strengthening the midfield and the backline ahead of the summer.

Tottenham are the latest in the market looking closely at Gyokeres ahead of the summer. Newcastle United are also interested in the Swede and might prove the biggest threat for Spurs in the race, as the north Londoners are open to making a significant investment to lure the forward.

Will Tottenham sign Viktor Gyokeres?

Gyokeres might end up preferring joining a team that will play in the Champions League next season, something Spurs are not close to right now. Tottenham might find a way into the Premier competition should they win the Europa League, at which point they can attract some of the best players in the market.

In the Gyokeres case, Spurs view him as a player who can bring in the prolific goalscoring numbers that Harry Kane brought. However, the Swede might prefer another bigger team to Tottenham if he had the choice, although if he intends to move out of Sporting in search of a big team and a significant contract, the white side of north London might become a solid enough destination.
