Manchester United are ready to fork out €48 million to sign Borussia Dortmund’s midfield sensation Felix Nmecha.
According to a report from Bild, Borussia Dortmund could find it very difficult to keep hold of their midfield star Felix Nmecha amidst interest from Manchester United. The Premier League giants are willing to table an offer worth €48 million to get a deal over the line.
Nmecha was a part of the Manchester City youth setup back in the day. While he did feature in three first-team games, the 24-year-old left the club in the summer of 2021 in search of a more prominent role elsewhere.
After proving his credentials in the Bundesliga with VfL Wolfsburg, he ended up joining Dortmund in the summer of 2023. While injuries have kept him on the sidelines for around 180 days, he has been a consistent performer for them over the last two seasons.
He has featured in a total of 56 matches and has contributed towards nine goals. While he prefers playing as a central midfielder, the German international can even feature in a holding role when needed.
Manchester United want Nmecha
Despite his injury concerns, his consistent performances have put him on the radar of Manchester United. While the Red Devils do have other priority targets for the summer, they have initiated a surprise raid on Dortmund for the 24-year-old.
Ruben Amorim seeks more quality in the centre of the park, and they consider Nmecha an ideal fit for his system. With Casemiro and Christian Eriksen’s futures uncertain, he could be a great addition to their ranks.
Dortmund could be under pressure to sell
Dortmund are aware of the fact that if they fail to qualify for the Champions League, they might lose out on quite a few of their stars. They are currently 11th in the league and are ten points behind a UCL spot. Winning the competition will guarantee their participation, but that won’t be easy either.
While they were ready to part ways with a few of their stars, they had no plans to sell Nmecha in the next window. But with Manchester United knocking, they are concerned about the German midfielder’s future.
The Red Devils are seriously jeopardising the German club’s plans for the 24-year-old. If Dortmund continue to struggle in the ongoing campaign, the former City star could push for a move away. But it will be interesting to see if he wants to play for the red side of Manchester.
