Manchester United, Tottenham will launch move for Koni De Winter if they make significant sales

Manchester United and Tottenham’s interest in Koni De Winter could materialise if they can make some sales ahead of the summer.

According to Inter-Live, Manchester United and Tottenham are among the teams interested in Genoa derender Koni De Winter. The versatile Belgian star could make a move to the Premier League and specifically to one of those clubs if they can conduct some sales during the summer.

Manchester United and Tottenham are in the market for defenders, but there’s no guarantee they will prioritise moves before making sales. There are some level of financial constraints, especially on the Red Devils given they are not in a fluid position with funds to spend.

Manchester United and Tottenham are interested in Koni De Winter, with the Genoa defender impressing with his performances despite only paying slightly more than half the games for the Serie A side this term. He has had some injury issues this season, and despite that, some clubs are looking closely at him.

Beyond the duo, there are more Premier League clubs keeping tabs, with Wolves and West Ham interested in De Winter. Genoa reported wanting around 25-30 million for the 22-year-old versatile defender after De Winter’s impressive displays this season, which might be within range for some of those English sides.

Manchester United and Tottenham may have to sell first

The big problem ahead of the summer for either Tottenham or Manchester United is the idea of conducting sales before they can sign a player like De Winter. Manchester United are not necessarily short on defenders at the moment, and their financial constraints may place pressure to offload some current stars before bringing in new ones.

They do have other areas to prioritise, although should a bright opportunity arrive, they might consider the idea of bringing De Winter. Tottenham, on the other hand, have already agreed on a loan move with an obligation to buy Kevin Danso, which may make the need to add another defender obsolete.

However, some reports are linking Cristian Romero with an exit should he not commit to a new deal, with Real Madrid interested. In that case, they might consider the idea of bringing in the 22-year-old versatile defender as a possible replacement for the Argentine.
