Arsenal, Barcelona, and Everton are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old AC Milan wonderkid Davide Bartesaghi, who will likely sign a new contract with the Rossoneri soon.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Davide Bartesaghi has garnered a market across Europe. Arsenal, Barcelona, and Everton are interested in the AC Milan wonderkid. However, the Serie A giants are on the verge of tying the 19-year-old full-back to a new long-term contract until June 30, 2030.
Who is Davide Bartesaghi?
Davide Bartesaghi is the latest highly-rated prospect to rise in prominence in his homeland. A native of Erba, the teenage sensation began his youth career with Atalanta but has spent most of his formative years with AC Milan, joining the Rossoneri in 2012. He has progressed through the ranks at the Serie A club in the last dozen years, breaking into the first-team squad in September 2023.
The 19-year-old made his first-team bow for AC Milan at the onset of the 2023/24 season but has not been a regular with the Rossoneri in the last 18 months. Bartesaghi has turned out only 12 times thus far for the Serie A giants while managing only 188 minutes of game time. However, the youngster’s stock in the market is high, with Arsenal, Barcelona, and Everton vying for his signature.
A man in demand
Mikel Arteta has used recognised centre-backs as full-backs, with Ben White, Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori occupying the two positions. However, with Arsenal sorely lacking in creativity, an out-and-out full-back like Bartesaghi is a viable target. In addition, the Italian defensive sensation can play as a centre-back, making him an appealing target for Arteta.
Meanwhile, Barcelona’s interest in Davide Bartesaghi makes sense. While Alejandro Balde has excelled since breaking into the first-team squad at the Catalan club, Hansi Flick wants a solid alternative to the Spanish international. So, the AC Milan wonderkid is an option worth considering for Barcelona.
As for Everton, Vitaliy Mykolenko has been exceptional during his spell with the Merseyside outfit. However, Bartesaghi is a viable option for the central defensive berths amid uncertainties surrounding Jarrad Branthwaite’s long-term future. Despite that, a summer move will unlikely see the light of day.
The 19-year-old Italian defensive sensation is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract with AC Milan. Bartesaghi will likely pen a deal until June 30, 2030. So, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Everton should look elsewhere for a versatile defender.
