Wolves to battle hard to keep Joao Gomes amid Liverpool links

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Wolves are not prepared to let Joao Gomes leave easily, and they will battle hard to keep the Brazilian international at the club beyond this season.

The 24-year-old midfielder is valued at £50 million, and the latest development will come as a major blow for Liverpool amid the Merseyside club’s push to sign him from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window.

The Reds need to add more quality in the middle of the park, and the Brazilian international would have been an exceptional acquisition for them. He would have added control, composure, and defensive cover to the side.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool can agree on a deal with the West Midlands club. They have the finances to pay £50 million for the South American midfielder. Meanwhile, Matheus Cunha has been linked with a move away from the club as well, and Wolves will not want to lose two key players in one window. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.

Gomes could be tempted to join Liverpool

The Brazilian will certainly be attracted to the idea of playing for one of the biggest clubs in the country. He will be able to compete in the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool and fight for major trophies as well. It remains to be seen whether Wolves can hold on to the player if he decides to force an exit in the summer.

Liverpool have had an impressive season so far, and they are currently on top of the league table. Anfield will be an attractive destination for most players, and it remains to be seen whether the Merseyside outfit can bring in the right additions before the window closes. They have a talented squad but need to keep improving in order to keep up with the European elite.

Gomes is entering the peak years of his career, and he will want to compete at the highest level. So, the lure of playing for Liverpool might be too enticing to turn down for the highly-rated Brazilian midfielder.
