Newcastle United are reportedly keen on acquiring the services of Arsenal and Aston Villa attacking target Yeremy Pino.
Eddie Howe finally managed to end Newcastle United’s lengthy wait for major silverware as he guided them to the Carabao Cup last Sunday. It was their first major trophy since 1955, and having achieved that, he will now be eager to help them take the next step.
Howe will be looking at the summer transfer window as an opportunity to bolster his squad further. According to a report from Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, the Magpies could push to sign Villarreal sensation Yeremy Pino, having scouted him for a while now.
Pino joined the Yellow Submarine in the summer of 2019. He got promoted to their first team in a year and has not looked back since. The 22-year-old right-winger has established himself as a key figure in the team.
The Spaniard has been involved in a total of 24 league games this season, and he has contributed towards six goals. His impressive performances have put him on the radar of quite a few top clubs who could battle it out for his signature.
While the Spanish international’s contract at Villarreal runs until the summer of 2027, there is a release clause worth €80 million in his deal, which could lead to his departure in the upcoming transfer window.
Newcastle United want to sign Yeremy Pino
The Magpies are among the front-runners for his signature. The Tyneside outfit have been scouting the Spaniard since last summer, and he have been working on a potential transfer of late. Having parted ways with Miguel Almiron in January, Howe is eager to have a new right-winger in his team.
While Newcastle United have a lot of quality on the left flank with Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes to choose from, they do not have enough quality on the opposite flank. As a result, Yeremy Pino, who has a similar play style to that of Jadon Sancho (as per a detailed report by The Scouting App), could be a great signing for the short as well as long term.
Aston Villa and Arsenal are also keen on Pino
Newcastle United are not the only ones who are keen on signing him. The Magpies could face significant competition from Arsenal and Aston Villa. The Gunners have previously scouted him, and they remain keen on signing him. They want more depth on the flanks, and Yeremy Pino could be a great fit in their system.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have also been keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old. Unai Emery has been closely following Villalrreal, as he wants to sign quite a few of their stars. Having helped the English club take giant strides in recent seasons, he wants to add more quality to their ranks, and Pino is quite high on his wishlist.
