Newcastle United want to sign Kevin Zenon

Newcastle United are interested in signing Kevin Zenon in the summer, with Boca Juniors seemingly open to selling the 23-year-old.

According to Boca Noticias, Kevin Zenon is still on Newcastle United’s radar, with the Premier League side expected to make an offer to sign him. Boca Juniors are not forcing the issue and are seemingly keeping the door open to a sale of the 23-year-old South American midfielder.

Kevin Zenon had been in the news with regards to a switch to European football around the January window. Boca Juniors value their player, but not so much to force the issue to keep him on board. Argentine great Juan Roman Riquelme is seemingly open to a sale for the right price, as he’s aware of the interest coming from Newcastle United.

Zenon, for the left-wing or left-midfield slot that he occupies in this Boca Juniors side, has not produced the expected numbers. While he was a regular in the team, the arrival of former Argentine midfielder Fernando Gago has seen his status diminish, which has opened the idea of a sale in the summer.

Many clubs were interested before the January window and could be alerted to the idea of a summer transfer following Boca Juniors’ stance on the 23-year-old South American midfielder. Newcastle United were one of those keen back then, and the report states the Magpies are still in the hunt for Zenon.

Boca Juniors are not yet clear on how much money they might want to sell the 23-year-old South American midfielder, although it will be well more than what they paid Union to buy him. They are aware of Newcastle United’s interest and could be ready to open talks with the Premier League giants.

Newcastle United looking to bolster their attacking options

Newcastle United are in the market for a wide player, with Eddie Howe likely to be open to adding more than one player there. Having allowed Miguel Almiron to leave in January, there’s a shortage of left-footed wingers in the team, as the Magpies boss would be keen to bring in a couple of players with that profile.

While they are linked with players like Bryan Mbeumo, the likes of Zenon would be seen as options to add depth to the attacking setup. Any move for the 23-year-old South American midfielder would depend on Boca Juniors’ asking price, which is not expected to cause a dent in Newcastle United’s coffers.
