Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Marc Casado from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Marc Casado is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window and have set their sights on the Barcelona prospect. However, the Catalan giants do not want to part ways with the Spanish international anytime soon.
Marc Casado and his career so far
Marc Casado has established himself as one of the best young prospects in La Liga since breaking into the first-team squad at FC Barcelona. A native of Sant Pere de Vilamajor, the Spaniard spent his formative years in Catalonia and has been with Barcelona since July 2016.
The 21-year-old progressed through the ranks at La Masia before making his first-team bow for Barcelona in November 2022. However, Casado had to wait until the ongoing campaign to enjoy his breakthrough at the Catalan club, and he has not looked back since featuring regularly alongside Pedri in the double pivot.
While the Spanish international has traded places with Frenkie de Jong in the last few months, he has made his mark on Hansi Flick, turning out 35 times across all competitions while chipping in with one goal and six assists. Meanwhile, Casado’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with the Barcelona midfielder capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.
Will Casado leave Barcelona?
Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Barcelona midfield prospect, with Arsenal among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window. The Gunners are scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the window amid uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
Both midfielders will likely leave Arsenal as free agents, compelling the North London club to dip into the market for a midfielder. So, Casado has emerged as a viable target for Arsenal. However, the Gunners face a tall order to land the 21-year-old Spaniard, with Barcelona not interested in parting ways with the breakout prospect.
In addition, Casado recently insisted that he would like to spend his entire career with Barcelona and retire at the Catalan club. So, Arsenal will have no chance to seal an audacious deal for the Spanish international in the summer transfer window.
