Manchester United are not considering making a move for Angel Gomes in the summer, which could pave the way for one of West Ham or Tottenham.
According to Football Insider, Angel Gomes is not on the radar of Manchester United ahead of the summer despite m any reports stating otherwise. The Red Devils are not expected to sign their former player, who will leave LOSC Lille on a free transfer, as West Ham and Tottenham could receive a boost in their pursuit.
Manchester United are set for a. big summer window in a lot of regards, with the market likely to shape Ruben Amorim’s squad for the new season. There are plenty of areas in his squad that need reinforcements as well as refreshing the current options.
Central midfield could be a key area for Amorim to make the right decisions, with Manchester United seemingly ready to move away from the likes of Christian Eriksen and Cesemiro. They like Atalanta’s Ederson, although a move may seem unlikely owing to his asking price ahead of the summer.
Manchester United are also interested in Angel Gomes, with the 24-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder set for a departure from LOSC Lille on a free transfer. Given the Red Devils have some financial constraints ahead of the summer, the idea of bringing their former midfielder on a Bosman deal might have been good for their books, although they are not interested.
The report claimed Gomes was not on Manchester United’s radar ahead of the summer. The idea of previous interest might be true, although that was even before Amorim arrived at Old Trafford, as the Portuguese manager may have other ideas that do not involve the 24-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder.
West Ham and Tottenham in Angel Gomes race
West Ham United are interested in Gomes, an as per Give Me Sport they are eager to steal a march on their rivals for the 24-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder. The Hammers may well have a chance to do so now that Manchester United are out of the running for the England international.
Tottenham are also keen, with the north Londoners keen to lure the midfielder to the club as Ange Postecoglou eyes key reinforcements. The fact that Gomes has not been a regular starter for Lille over the last few months, could see some more top-level clubs back out of the race.
