Liverpool line up €150 million move for Alexander Isak

Liverpool are reportedly ready to break the bank and fork out €150 million to sign Newcastle United ace Alexander Isak.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of Alexander Isak as they look to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. The Reds are willing to table an offer worth €150 million to convince Newcastle United to part ways with one of their most valuable assets.

After providing his credentials at Real Sociedad, Isak joined the Magpies in the summer of 2022, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. The 25-year-old is the go-to man in the final third for Eddie Howe’s team. He has contributed towards 66 goals in his 99 outings for the Tyneside club.

Newcastle United are pushing for a top-four finish in the Premier League, with Alexander Isak leading the charge, having registered 24 goal contributions in just 25 league appearances. While his contract runs until the summer of 2028, numerous clubs are gearing up to make a move for him.

Liverpool are one of the clubs that are keen on signing the Swedish striker, who is amongst the best forwards in the world. While the Reds already have a star-studded attack, they might have to deal with Darwin Nunez’s departure.

The Uruguayan striker’s role has diminished since Arne Slot’s arrival, with the Dutch manager even questioning his work ethic in the recent past. Their relationship appears strained, and reports suggest that Nunez is now exploring his options for a potential move away from the club.

Isak to replace Nunez at Anfield?

If Nunez does end up leaving, the Reds will need to bring in a world-class replacement to ensure they have enough quality to continue their dominant display. The Merseyside outfit have identified Alexander Isak as the ideal candidate for them going forward.

The Reds need a top-quality striker who can guarantee goals, and they would love to bet on someone who has already proved himself in the English top flight. Liverpool are willing to table an offer worth €150 million to secure his signing.

While Newcastle United do not really want to part ways with Isak, the massive offer will certainly make them reconsider their stance. Meanwhile, if they fail to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, keeping him at the club could prove to be very difficult amid his links with Liverpool.
