Arsenal line up Bosman move for Leroy Sane

Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old German international Leroy Sane in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window after his Bayern Munich contract runs out.

According to a report by German outlet BILD, Leroy Sane is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window and are “seriously considering” a Bosman move for the Bayern Munich attacker. However, his €20 million-a-year wages might pose a problem for the North London outfit.

Leroy Sane and the Bayern Munich rollercoaster

Leroy Sane has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Bayern Munich from Manchester City in July 2020. While the experienced forward has shown flashes of brilliance in the last four and a half years, he has blown hot and cold throughout his spell at the Allianz Arena.

The 29-year-old has turned out over 200 times thus far for Bayern Munich while chipping in with 56 goals and 50 assists. However, Sane faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena after entering the final few months of his contract with the Bavarian outfit.

The situation has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the German international, with Arsenal among the prospective suitors vying for his signature heading into the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Leroy Sane is understandable. The Gunners are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. Arsenal’s over-dependence on Bukayo Saka means they must bolster the offensive unit in the coming months, considering Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Kai Havertz have blown hot and cold this season.

So, several candidates, including Raphinha, have emerged on Arsenal’s radar, with Sane also a viable target. However, the German international might have to take a pay cut to facilitate a move to the North London club, considering he pockets €20 million-a-year wages at Bayern Munich.

The Gunners might not have the financial bandwidth to pay Sane €20 million-a-year wages if he arrives in a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see what the future has in store for the 29-year-old former Manchester City attacker if he does not sign a new deal with Bayern Munich.
