Thomas Partey expected to seal Arsenal exit this summer

Thomas Partey is all set to part ways with Arsenal after the end of the ongoing campaign amid interest from Barcelona and PSG.

According to a report from CharlesWatts.Football, Thomas Partey could end up leaving Arsenal at the end of the season as his contract is running out. The Gunners are yet to initiate any contract renewal talks, and there is a growing feeling within the player’s camp that they won’t push to keep him at the club.

The North London club acquired the Ghana international’s services in a deadline day move back in 2020. They forked out a massive £45 million to sign him from Atletico Madrid. Over the years, he has been a key figure in Mikel Arteta’s team.

In the ongoing season, the experienced midfielder has been involved in 39 matches, and he has racked up close to 2,900 minutes of first-team action. The 31-year-old defensive midfielder even has six goal contributions. While he remains a very important part of Arteta’s plans, he is unlikely to be around next season.

Partey’s time at Arsenal could come to an end

Thomas Partey’s contract at the club runs out at the end of the season, and the Gunners have yet to initiate any contract talks with his representatives. The midfield mainstay, who will turn 32 before the start of next season, seems all set to be a free agent.

There is a belief in the player’s camp that Arsenal are looking to freshen things up in midfield and won’t push to keep Partey at the club. They have quite a few high-profile targets, and the Ghanaian midfielder could have to make way for those moves to go ahead.

PSG and Barcelona keen on Thomas Partey

With Partey all set to be available on a free transfer, multiple clubs are gearing up to make a move. Barcelona and PSG are two of the front-runners for his signature. The Catalan giants seek more depth in the centre of the park, and given their financial situation, signing a player of Partey’s quality for free will certainly make a lot of sense.

Even the Ligue 1 giants want to have more quality options in midfield, and they would be willing to given him a significant financial offer to lure him to Paris. But, according to the report, the player prefers a return to Spain at this point. However, he is yet to make a final call regarding his future.
