Tottenham ponder summer sale of Yves Bissouma

Tottenham are considering selling key midfielder Yves Bissouma in the summer following a dismal season in north London.

According to a report by Give Me Sport, Tottenham are open to considering offers for Yves Bissouma and ponder a sale of the key midfielder. The Malian international has not had a productive season, with niggling injuries and a lack of form affecting his performances, as Spurs are intent on landing a new midfield name next summer.

Yves Bissouma, a £25 million signing from Brighton & Hove Albion during Antonio Conte’s time at the club, did start showing he is destined to be one of the best in the Premier League. Last season, he was excellent in the early stages of the season under Ange Postecoglou, which did draw comparisons with more distinguished names in the division.

However, the wheels have fallen off a bit for Bissouma this term, as Tottenham Hotspur have collectively suffered from injuries and a loss of form. While Spurs have won their last three league games on the bounce, the performances from the fixtures before are likely to cost them a European spot for next season.

He also had some niggling fitness issues as well as an overall loss in form, which has led to speculation that Spurs might be open to considering offers for the 28-year-old next summer. It remains to be seen how much Tottenham Hotspur would want in return for selling the midfielder, which would dictate whether he is an option for some of the interested parties.

Spurs did shut the door on a sale of Bissouma last summer, but this time around, they are open to the prospect. Tottenham Hotspur are already in the market for a new midfielder, with Sporting CP’s Morten Hjulmand a reported target, with the Dane reportedly available for a lesser price than his enormous release clause.

Tottenham Hotspur intent on signing a new midfielder

While Hjulmand would be the like-for-like replacement should Bissouma depart, Spurs might be considering other profiles, as names like Angel Gomes remain a target. The England international will likely be available for a free transfer in the summer as he is set to leave LOSC Lille when his contract runs out.

Davide Frattesi is another target they are considering, and the Italian will be someone available for a decent price compared to some other names on their potential shortlist. Either way, a new midfielder might arrive in north London next summer, potentially even as a replacement for the ineffective £25 million Conte signing, Bissouma.
