Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have reignited their interest in the services of Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi.
According to a report from InterLive, Tottenham are interested in acquiring the services of Davide Frattesi. The North London club have a long-standing interest in the Inter Milan midfielder and have reignited their pursuit as they look to land him ahead of next season.
While things didn’t work out for Frattesi at AS Roma, he managed to take quite a name for himself in the Italian top flight with his performances for Sassuolo. On the back of it, he ended up making the move to Inter Milan in the summer of 2023.
It was an initial loan deal which became permanent last summer as Inter forked out just over €31 million to acquire his services permanently. While the Italian international has put him in some impressive performances, he has failed to establish himself as a regular starter.
The 25-year-old remains a backup player under Simone Inzaghi. While he has six goal contributions in his 20 league outings, he has been on the pitch for just over 800 minutes. He is not an integral part of their plans and has been linked with a move away for a while now.
Frattesi’s contract at Inter runs until the summer of 2028 but it won’t be much of a surprise if he ends up leaving the club ahead of next season. He was linked with a move away during the winter transfer window but things didn’t go according to plan.
However, he could finally end up parting ways with Inter in the summer. The Italian giants are expected to undergo major changes at the end of the season. They will part ways with quite a few stars as they look to reshape their squad. Frattesi is one of the players who they are willing to sell to raise funds for other signings.
Tottenham revive interest in Frattesi
Tottenham have emerged as a potential destination. The North London club did knock on Inter’s door last summer for the signature of the 25-year-old. While it didn’t work out back then, they are all set to try again ahead of next season.
Ange Postecoglou seeks more quality in the centre of the park and they feel the Italian international can help their cause. Spurs parted ways with quite a few of their midfielders last summer but they haven’t been able to replace all of them. They lack quality as well as depth and Frattesi can certainly be a great addition to their squad.
While Inter were not ready to negotiate his departure last summer, they are open to his sale this time around and a fee of around €30 million could be good enough to get a deal over the line.
