Aston Villa, Manchester United, West Ham United rival Tottenham in Angel Gomes chase

Aston Villa, Manchester United and West Ham are ready to battle Tottenham for the signature of LOSC Lille star Angel Gomes.

Angel Gomes’ future has become a massive talking point as he is expected to be on the move following the end of his contract at LOSC Lille at the end of the season. Tottenham are interested in bringing him back to the Premier League but they are not the only English club who are after his signature.

According to a report from GiveMeSport, Aston Villa, Manchester United and West Ham United are all ready to rival Spurs in their pursuit of the English international. Tottenham have been after his signature since the start of January but they haven’t been able to strike a deal which has opened the door for other clubs to try and lure him.

Gomes was a part of the United youth setup back in the day. He went up the ranks at some pace and got promoted to their first team in the summer of 2019. Unfortunately, he wasn’t an important part of their plans back in the day. As a result, he parted ways to join Lille in the summer of 2020 in search of a more prominent role.

The move to France has certainly helped him get his career on track. Not only has he established himself as a key figure in the team, but the 24-year-old even managed to break into the England national team. While he has been doing wonders for Lille and is one of the first names on their team sheet, Gomes is all set to leave the club at the end of the season.

His contract at the club is running out and he is all set to take the next step in his career. The former United star is free to sign a pre-contract with any club and Spurs have been working on that since the start of the year. The North London club lack depth in the centre of the park and they feel Gomes could bolster their squad.

Tottenham to face competition from rivals

Not only will he add more creativity to the mix, the English international can even feature in a deeper. Unfortunately, Tottenham haven’t been able to strike a pre-contract with him. Their struggle has opened the door for the likes of United, Villa and West Ham.

All three clubs have been monitoring him and would love to add him to their squad. Villa admire him and could be an appealing option for him as they have taken great strides under Unai Emery.

Meanwhile, United want to re-sign him as Ruben Amorim seeks more quality in the centre of the park. With the club struggling financially, signing him on a free transfer would certainly make a lot of sense. The Hammers have been keeping a close eye on him since January and are exploring potential terms for a move.
