Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United want to sign LOSC Lille attacking duo Jonathan David and Angel Gomes next summer.
While things are not going according to plan for Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United in the ongoing campaign, they have already started planning for next season. They will look to make significant changes to their squad in the summer but they will have to be quite smart with their choices as they do not have the best financial situation.
According to a report from Fichajes, the Red Devils are interested in signing LOSC Lille duo Jonathan David and Angel Gomes who will both be available on a free transfer as their contracts at the French club are running out.
United would ideally like to sanction the departure of quite a few of their first-team stars. Those departures could certainly help them raise significant funds which could then be used to reinforce their squad. As far as the attack is concerned, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho could all leave the club permanently.
But, since all three of them are on lofty wages, a permanent move away is not really a certainty even though parties would prefer that. As a result, United are preparing for a situation where they could strengthen their squad without a major outlay.
The Red Devils are looking at the free agent market for opportunities to bolster their ranks and they have certainly found players who could perfectly fit into Amorim’s system. They are interested in signing David and Gomes who will both be free agents at the end of the campaign.
The Canadian striker and the English attacking midfielder are both ready to take the next step in their career. They do not intend on continuing at the French club and there is no shortage of interest in them.
United want to sign the LOSC Lille duo
While United already have Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee in their squad, Amorim wants a proven goal scorer and David’s record suggests he could help their cause. Multiple top clubs want to sign the 25-year-old and the Manchester-based club are working hard to ensure they can beat the competition to his signature.
Apart from securing his signing on a free transfer, United are also looking to bring their academy graduate Gomes back to the club. While he prefers playing as a number ten, the 24-year-old can feature in any role which can certainly help Amorim’s cause.
He knows how things work at Old Trafford and won’t take any time to adjust to life at the club. Both David and Gomes represent great opportunities in the market and it will be interesting to see if United can get a deal over the line for the duo.
