Sevilla have opened informal talks to bring Sergio Reguilon on a free transfer in the summer, with the left-back set to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
According to Fichajes, Sevilla are hopeful of re-signing Sergio Reguilon on a free transfer this summer when he leaves Tottenham Hotspur. The 28-year-old is not expected to extend his stay in North London beyond the current season, as the Spanish outfit have begun informal talks to seal the deal for the left-back.
Sergio Reguilon will not look back fondly at his time at Tottenham Hotspur following a dreadful spell at the club. Having arrived here from Real Madrid after a stellar season on loan with Sevilla, when he won the UEFA Europa League, Spurs wasted little time in securing his signature.
At first, he looked like a valuable signing as Reguilon forged a starting spot under the management of Jose Mourinho, but things have gone downhill since. Antonio Conte and Ange Postecoglou barely rated him, as he also spent two separate spells on loan while the latter was in charge.
Last season alone, the 28-year-old Tottenham misfit had loan spells first with Manchester United and then Brentford, as he underwhelmed at either side. Tottenham Hotspur wanted to offload Sergio Reguilon last summer as well as in January but were unable to do so, as some clubs were chasing him, including Fenerbahce, who were interested last month.
As the season draws to a close, Reguilon is already into the final months of his deal with Spurs, and there are no indications of an extension. As he barely plays, the 28-year-old Tottenham misfit will look for a new challenge where he can be a regular, as Sevilla appear to be the leading contenders for his signature.
Sevilla closing in on Sergio Reguilon
Sevilla had been eyeing up a move for Reguilon ahead of the summer as the financial aspects of re-signing the former star continue to take centre stage. The Spanish side have their share of finan cial issues, and will jump at the prospect of bringing the 28-year-old Tottenham misfit on a free transder, as the left-back slot is also an area that needs strenghthening.
Sevilla have reportedly opened informal talks to bring the left-back to Spain, although they are aware of the likely interest from elsewhere. Sergio Reguilon will have other suitors coming into the mix. However, Sevilla hope to lure him with the prospect of an important place in the team as well as a return to his native Spain, which might play into the thinking of the 28-year-old’s final decision in the summer.
