Real Madrid join race for Virgil van Dijk

Real Madrid are ready to explore a move for another Liverpool mainstay, as the Spanish giants are interested in Virgil van Dijk.

According to TBR, Real Madrid have set sights on a Liverpool player and it’s not Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Spanish giants are now eager to explore a deal for his teammate Virgil van Dijk alongside the right-back, as the club are eager to take advantage of what may seem like a market opportunity.

Virgil van Dijk will be 34 by the time the new season begins, although he has shown no signs of his age coming in the way of his football. The Dutch defender has been on top of his game, specifically this season as he leads Liverpool to a probably Premier League title triumph.

He’s also at the forefront of the big issues ahead for Liverpool in the summer, as Van Dijk is one of the three influential stars who are out of contract after the season ends. The other two are Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, with all three equally important to the club in their way, as their departures will lead to massive voids in the squad.

Liverpool have already stepped up their pursuit of a replacement for Van Dijk, as the defender is yet to decide his future. There have been many reports indicating the club may have offered a new deal, although nothing has been signed yet, which does leave the door open for the centre-back. Barcelona are one of the clubs interested, while Bayern Munich have a big admiration for the Dutchman.

Real Madrid are the latest to show an interest in the Liverpool mainstay, as they have been in the market for a new centre-back. The Spanish giants might view the Dutchman as a big market opportunity that allows them to strengthen their backline for the coming years at the very least.

Real Madrid a right fit for Virgil van Dijk?

Van Dijk has been a rock for Liverpool for many years now, and he might consider a new challenge unless he decides to sign a new deal at the club. There’s interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal, and the Middle East could be an option unless there’s a competitive offer from one of the European giants.

Real Madrid are already closing in on an agreement with Alexander-Arnold and could find themselves in a solid position to prise Van Dijk away. He could prove a solid idea for the Spanish giants, and might strengthen a problem area, while the idea of a free transfer will save Real Madrid millions in the summer as they were planning on recruiting a new centre-back.
