Arsenal line up summer move for Rodrygo Goes

Arsenal will reportedly look to sign 24-year-old Brazilian international Rodrygo from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Rodrygo is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners are scouring the market for a versatile attacker heading into the summer transfer window. So, the Real Madrid attacking mainstay has emerged as a target for the North London outfit, although the reigning La Liga champions do not want to part ways with him in the coming months.

The rise and rise of Rodrygo Goes

Rodrygo Goes has come leaps and bounds since joining Real Madrid from Santos in July 2019. The South American attacker has gone from strength to strength in the last half a dozen years, and he has been a mainstay in the final third for Los Blancos in recent seasons.

The 24-year-old has been exceptional thus far this season, contributing to 21 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, finding the back of the net 12 times and providing nine assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe.

Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Brazilian international, with recent reports linking him with Manchester City and Manchester United. However, Arsenal will aim to beat the competition to the Real Madrid attacker’s signature in the summer transfer window.

London calling?

Arsenal’s interest in Rodrygo Goes is understandable. While Bukayo Saka has been excellent for the North London outfit, the other attackers have not been consistent or productive enough in the last 18 months. Arsenal will look to tie Gabriel Martinelli to a new contract. However, the Gunners need more quality in the final third, bringing the Real Madrid attacker into the picture.

Fichajes has claimed that Arsenal will dip into the Spanish market for signings in the summer transfer window, with Joan Garcia and Martin Zubimendi also on the North London club’s radar. However, the third deal might not be straightforward, with Real Madrid not interested in parting ways with the South American attacker.

With Real Madrid hesitant to entertain offers for the 24-year-old Brazilian international, Arsenal should identify alternatives to ensure they are not left empty-handed when the summer transfer window shuts down.
