Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing the French attacker Hugo Ekitike.
Ekitike has done quite well for Eintracht Frankfurt and his performances have attracted the attention of the three Premier League clubs. The 22-year-old striker has scored 17 goals and picked up six assists in all competitions. He is reportedly valued at €80 million and it will be interesting to see which of the clubs manage to get the deal done. According to CaughtOffside and Footmercato, all three clubs are keeping tabs on his situation.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a quality striker, and it is no surprise that they are keen on the Bundesliga star. Gabriel Jesus has not been able to find the back of the net consistently, and Arsenal need an alternative to him if they are serious about fighting for major trophies. The 22-year-old would be a long-term acquisition for them, and he will only improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a star for Arsenal with the right guidance.
Similarly, Chelsea need a quality striker as well. Nicolas Jackson has shown improvement this season, but they need more support in the attack. They need another player who can share the goal-scoring burden and find the back of the net regularly.
Where will Ekitike end up?
Both Chelsea and Arsenal have the financial resources to get the deal across the line, and it will be interesting to see if they come forward with an official offer in the coming months.
The two London clubs have a proven track record when it comes to nurturing young players, and the 22-year-old striker might feel that they will help him improve further. Convincing the young attacker to join the club should not be too difficult.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, they need an upgrade on Darwin Nunez. Although the South American has done quite well overall, his goal-scoring record is quite mediocre and Liverpool need a more prolific attacker leading the line for them. The 22-year-old could be a quality alternative in the long-term.
