Tottenham line up Gianluca Mancini swoop

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly look to sign 28-year-old Italian international Gianluca Mancini from Serie A club AS Roma in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Roma Forever, Gianluca Mancini is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window. So, the 28-year-old AS Roma defender has emerged as a target, with the North London outfit ready to offer €18 million to secure his services.

Gianluca Mancini and his journey at AS Roma

Gianluca Mancini has established himself as one of the most dependable defenders in Serie A since joining AS Roma from Atalanta. The experienced defender graduated from the youth division at Fiorentina and spent a few years with Atalanta. However, he landed on his feet after completing a loan move to AS Roma before the Giallorossi sealed the permanent deal in September 2020.

The 28-year-old has come leaps and bounds in the last half a decade, turning out over 250 times for AS Roma while chipping in with 17 goals and 11 assists. Meanwhile, Mancini’s progress at the Serie A club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs across Europe.

An adventure in the Premier League might be on the cards for the Italian international, with Tottenham Hotspur ready to secure his services in the summer transfer window. The Lilywhites are willing to cough up €18 million to sign the AS Roma defender in the coming months.

London calling?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Gianluca Mancini is understandable. The North London club signed Kevin Danso on loan from RC Lens in the winter transfer window. However, this season’s injury crisis has taught Tottenham to further reinforce the central defensive unit in the summer.

So, several candidates, including Marc Guehi, have emerged on Tottenham’s radar, with Mancini also a viable target for the North London outfit. The Italian international might not set Tottenham back by much, considering he pockets €3 million-a-year wages at AS Roma.

In addition, the Lilwhites want to sign the AS Roma centre-back in a deal worth €18 million in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if the 28-year-old defender arrives at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the coming months.
