Newcastle United are keen to sign Bryan Mbeumo in the summer to improve their attack, and they are willing to pay Brentford €50 million.
According to Fichajes, Newcastle United are determined to sign Bryan Mbeumo in the summer, and they are willing to fork out €50 million to bring the Brentford attacker. The Magpies are intent on strengthening their attack with quality players, with the Cameroonian international viewed as the priority objective in the close season.
Bryan Mbeumo has taken on the goalscoring mantle at Brentford since Ivan Toney’s summer departure. The Cameroonian winger has scored 14 times in the Premier League while also creating four assists for his teammates, but he is not expected to stay with the Bees beyond the current campaign.
Mbeumo has a year left on his original deal, although some reports state Brentford have the option to extend the agreement by another season. In any case, they will take a big risk in allowing the Cameroonian international to run down another year, which may potentially reduce his valuation, as currently, the Bees want a hefty fee for Mbeumo.
Bryan Mbeumo has a lot of interest coming from top Premier League sides, including Newcastle United. Eddie Howe’s side are set for a decisive summer window, and they have been looking to sign a right winger from January, with Mbeumo’s name on top of their wishlist ahead of the summer.
They also have an interest in Anthony Elanga, while Johan Bakayoko’s name has been mentioned a few times over the last few months. However, it is Mbeumo that they view as a priority target, with the report stating Newcastle United are prepared to pay €50 million, which might fall short of Brentford’s valuation of the Cameroonian international.
Bryan Mbeumo to replace Alexander Isak?
The report states that Newcastle United are chasing Mbeumo as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak, or at least they view him in that vein. While the two forwards play in different positions, the Brentford star is clearly not a striker, even though he can fill a gap in the forward line in terms of quality should the Swede depart. They also have names like Nicolas Jackson on their list should Isak leave in the summer.
In truth, Newcastle United are eager to keep Isak and add Bryan Mbeumo to the mix, as the potential of a front three involving the duo and Anthony Gordon will seem mouthwatering. However, there might be the case of Isak leaving for a lack of Champions League football at St. James’ Park, and bringing in Mbeumo to replace the quality the Swede would also make sense for the Magpies.
