Liverpool ready to sell Darwin Nunez amid Diogo Jota exit rumours

Liverpool would reportedly prefer to keep Diogo Jota, and instead, court offers for Darwin Nunez, with a decision set to be made in the summer.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are reportedly leaning towards selling Darwin Nunez rather than Diogo Jota in the summer. The Portuguese attacker has had troubles with fitness issues, while the Uruguayan has been dismal in his performances despite staying fit for most parts of the season.

Liverpool are considering making changes to their attacking setup in the summer, as Arne Slot is yet to shape the team as per his specifications. The Dutch manager has not spent money on the squad since he arrived at Anfield, and the arrival of Federico Chiesa was the only anomaly following his late arrival in the summer.

In any case, the Italian’s future remains uncertain after the stop-start nature of his season. However, the big story coming out of Liverpool are the idea of selling two of their attackers, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota. Both those forwards have had problems of varied degrees this term, with the latter struggling with fitness issues while the former has an overall problem with his form.

Liverpool are reportedly exasperated with Jota due to his fitness concerns, having only made 21 appearances in all competitions this season. Arsenal are surprisingly interested in the Portuguese forward, although the Merseysiders are leaning more towards offloading Nunez than Jota.

Liverpool are open to courting offers for Nunez, who reported having offers from Al-Nassr back in January. There are other teams in the mix for the Uruguayan, with AC Milan also showing interest last month before switching their attention towards Santiago Gimenez.

Will Darwin Nunez leave before Diogo Jota?

Nunez has not had the best season so far, although he has had moments that come to define what he could be worth for the club. While he remains one of the costliest players for Liverpool to date, Arne Slot has not performed Nunez as his main striker; instead, it has been Jota. Liverpool is pleased with the Portuguese’s output despite his fitness concerns and could decide on his future in the summer.

In any case, Nunez has a big chance of leaving the club in the summer if he continues to play the secondary role under Arne Slot. However, Liverpool will only make a stern decision on the future of either forward in the summer, with Jota also in the firing line despite the club’s preference to keep him.
